Things to look for in tonights game....part 1

I for one am just excited as all hell to watch the game.  Football at home, theres nothing like it.

I have been watching film from the past game all day. I have also been looking for any film I could find covering training camp to help better identify the players. Lots of new names out there for the hawks. New Schemes on both offense and defense, and a bevy of new coaches. Everything I have been watching leading up to know has reasured me the Seahawks will have a winning season.

OFFENSIVE LINE:
The offensive line seems to be gelling well, even with the absence of Walter Jones. The new zone blocking scheme appears to be more than apearant in the brains of our offense, at least the O-line. The thing I noticed from the film is the RB's making their cuts. I noticed on a couple of plays against the Chargers, notably on 2nd and long, where JJ cut too late and missed an opportunity to blow by the linebackers in to the secondary. I am curious as too how they are going to handle transitioning to a new system. The more experienced players seem to be catching on quickly, and in turn, are passing on that knowledge and tidbits to help the younger guys improve their abilities.  Max Unger continues to impress coaches and beat writers alike, along with the improved line play of Locklear and Sims as well. I like to see the more fluid style of running plays put into action. The stretch, the sweep, and the HB pitch have all been a thing the Hawks struggled with in the past. In Holmgrens system, at least late in his tenure, this group of run plays took a back seat to the ever so apearant draw. This is not the Offensive line of 2005 when Shaun Alexander garnered the rushing title and set the record for most touchdowns in a season with 29. This should have been obvious to Holmgren as soon as we lost Hutch. It wasn't and our run game suffered. So now we implement a zone blocking scheme, under new offensive coordinator Greg Knapp, to utilize the athleticism of the offensive linemen we do have. Watch closely, because I think this offensive line is going to be the offensive line that starts out our season for us. I hope we don't have anymore injurys. In fact, I pray we don't.

Whilst searching for something relevant....I came across this.......Rage filled rant.

Drew Magary, a columnist/deadcast douche bag over at deadspin.com has a little column he likes to call "why your team sucks" where readers write in and tell him why their most hated teams suck.

Now I like the idea of this site, but I hate it when people bash the Hawks. That's our jobs!....They took our jobs.....

An obvious ex-seahawks-fan Kevin K. wrote in to Drew and told his account of why "The Seahawks Suck".

"From 1976-1991 (the end of the Krieg/Chuck Knox era), the Sea Hags were 119-125, with four postseasons appearances (3-4), inlcuding two one-and-dones in 1987 and 1988. The closest they ever sniffed a Super Bowl during that time was a 30-14 loss to the Oakland Raiders in the '83 Conference Championship game. In short, their salad days weren't even as good as the Bills or the Eagles. That is what I was forced to watch growing up"

check it out Here for yourself......

I think it is safe to say that this guy Kevin is really bitter about having to watch the Hawks when they weren't dominating the NFC W.

This guy even attacks us. The people of Seattle, and the fans of the Seahawks.

What deep hatred for my beloved Hawks this man has. Well Fuck you Kevin K. you are just pissed because you now live in Canada....

Seahawks Reign supreme over Broncos......

This is just simple facts.

Broncos defense is terrible. Brandon Marshall is a criminal douche bag that can't seem to get his shit together.

Kyle Orton is a washed up never was. I can't believe the Broncos got this loser from Chicago.

I can't wait to see the comments from all of you douche bag assholes who think Denver is going to win.

I will be at Qwest field tomorrow booing the Broncos. This is an old AFC West wound that I am now licking with enthusiasm.......At least they don't have horse face Elway anymore.........

Attention Broncos Fans: Your team is worse than the Lions this year....oh hey, you guys need a first round pick next year? I know a team that has a couple of them..........hahahahahaha

Slow news day for Seahawks.....

It is definitely a slow day for Seahawks news.....

Wow, even listening to Mitch on KJR is boring me......

I wanted to post something just to get people talking.....

Predictions.......How many INT's will Favre throw tonight?

One thing I would like to hear about in particular is who do you guys think will show out at tomorrows match up with the Broncos? Justin Forsett, Aaron Curry (if he plays), Devin Moore, Michael Bennett, Nick Reed, or maybe even Lo Jack...Anyone you feel is going to have a stand out performance in tomorrows game.....

comment away and remember "R" Rated is always welcomed....

Out on a Limb.....

Yes......I said out on a limb I go......

Trufant will start the season off on the PUP list.....

Before all you people start bombarding me with comments on how I don't know shit....read on.

From a personal standpoint I know exactly what Marcus Trufant is going through right now. I am not talking about the stress of not knowing whether or not he is going to sit out for 6 games. I am talking about the pain and uneasy feeling of having a bulging/herniated disc in his back. I suffered through a bulging disc in my back that was causing my whole left leg to go numb. Not only did it go numb but there was a tremendous amount of pain swirling around my joints in that leg. It is because of my understanding of how painful the injury is that I am writing this post. I know there are many procedures and rehabilitation to help relieve that pressure but most don't work.

I tested out several of these un-proven methods and nothing worked. I tried spinal compression therapy, massage therapy, I went to the chiropractor, and none of these things worked. I really tried everything I could find as alternatives to surgery.

In the end, I had to have laser surgery on my back. If this disc issue for Trufant is anything like my experience he will start the season out on the PUP list. I all but guarantee that happening.

That is why I am going out on a LIMB here and saying; Trufant will miss 6 games of the regular season.

Have any of you experienced the same thing? What do you think?

Keeping Up with the JONES'

With the recent news of Walter Jones' most recent knee surgery ( a basic knee scope) circulating all over the web, Seattle Seahawks fans are worried. I know I am. Not that there wasn't enough worry about our Offensive Line already, now it seems as though Walter Jones may not be able to start at LT for the opening game of the season. So what do the Hawks do now? Well keeping up with the Jones' I assume. Levi Jones is the best available person to fill this void left by (Walter) Jones if he isn't able to go. Even if big Walt does start and play this season, how long will he last? Walter Jones is 35 years old now and a knee injury to a 325 lb man can be, and in most cases is, career ending. Walter Jones has played 12 seasons in the NFL all for the Seattle Seahawk. His career is the highlight reel for Tackles coming out of college. Big Walt is the guy to emulate. Is his career indeed over? Maybe, just maybe.

Levi Jones is a comparable, suitable replacement for Walter Jones. Levi is 6'5" weighs 307lbs and is 29 years old with 7 years in the league, all with Cincinnati. Walter Jones is 6'5" weighs 325 and is 35 and has played a stellar 12 seasons all for the Hawks. These guys are pretty much mirror images of each other. I have been watching film, courtesy of NFL.com to study his movements. Levi has quick feet and fierce upper body strength. So why don't we pay a hefty price to bring this man into camp now? Maybe coach Mora and the organization want to keep Walt as a legacy. I am fine with that but get someone in here who can fill that void now.

The offensive line needs cohesiveness to function properly without mistakes. With a replacement line of un-proven guys and mediocrity leading the depth chart I think picking up Levi Jones would be the best option for saving this season. Now that our defense may end up suffering a tremendous loss in TRUFANT for a possible 7 games, we need to be sure our offense will be able to support the troubled secondary of our defense.

I know that most of us fans would love to see (Walt) Jones playing this year.

Bottom line: I don't think Walter Jones is gonna be able to play through the season let alone be ready for the opening game. Go for Levi Jones now. It will be the best decision of Tim Ruskell's life.

apologies.....

Hello to all who posted any comments yesterday.

I want to clear the air now.

I am a writer at heart, not for profession.

For some of you who may have read my comments yesterday; I did not play college football.

I did try out for a semi pro team here in Washington but my knees are blown.

I did try out for High School Football but was kicked off the team the first practice because I talked shit to the coach. This I really regret because I was a great CB in my pee wee football days. I played for several different youth athletic leagues in Washington and even went to the National Youth Football Championships in Vegas three times. I was on elite teams every year.

I was a pure athlete, I was a skateboarder for about 14 years, I played football, soccer and baseball all through my youth. Ultimately, skateboarding took over and eventually destroyed my body.

That being said, I love football more than I love skateboarding, always have.

That is why I created this blog. I love the Hawks especially as I am a born and bread Seattle man. I wanted to have a place to talk trash with opposing teams' fans in a non moderated setting. I would like to structure the site with fan post and forum capabilities. This will allow for more fluid topics to be posted in the Articles section while maintaining that level of trash talk you all love in the "match-ups forum".

For all who read the posted article from yesterday and participated in the trash talk in the comments I apologize to you. I had to test out my trash talk on fans from other blogs first to get the buzz out there. I will be adding a few other writers to the blog for more meaningful content, and so I don't get worn out.

Thank you for visiting and I hope we can all make this the premier site for trash talk.

Curry and "The Boz" in relative comany?

With the recent news of Aaron Curry's injury to his groin, many people are discussing weather or not he will be a bust. Not just a bust, but a colossal bust at that.

Brian Bosworth, a once highest paid rookie in NFL history was number 6 on ESPN's Biggest Flops of the last 25 years. The "Boz", as he came to be known as, was a standout player at the University of Oklahoma before he was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the 1987 NFL Supplemental. The Boz's 10 year $11 million dollar contract to play for the Hawks, at the time was the Hawks largest player contract in the history of the franchise. The Boz was supposed to be a power house Strong Side Linebacker, winning the coveted Butkus Award the first two times it was presented. Brian was named #30 on the College Football News "100 greatest college players of all time". How did all this translate to a terrible career in the NFL and ultimately a early retirement due to a chronic shoulder injury? Many say it was Seattle's decision to move him to weak side linebacker. Others might say it was his attitude and demeanor on the field. I really think it was the lack of film study by the Seahawks' scout system in the 80's. Either way, "The Boz" was a colossal bust.

So why is Aaron Curry's name being brought up in relative questioning to Brian Bosworth? Besides winning the coveted Butkus award Curry was the hype of all hype to be had surrounding college linebackers. While Bosworth was primarily a strong side linebacker in college, Curry played what is called a "SAM" linebacker. Basically, this meant Curry played the ball, wherever the ball went Curry went. Aaron's athleticism also allowed for him to play in space when zone coverages were needed and he often split out as a nickle back. This man was high on every NFL teams radar. Aaron Curry was considered by some to be the best player available in the entire 2009 NFL draft.

The "Boz" was a talented, hard hitting, smart linebacker, whereas, Curry is a talented, strong, coverage capable, pass rushing linebacker with great speed. The differences between these guys are just that different (skill sets anyway). The similarities are that of speculation, purely for the fact that Curry is now injured. We don't exactly know the extent of curry's injury as of now but that doesn't matter in relevance to this article. What is relevant is the nature of the contracts that were structured for these two linebackers. Curry now has the largest contract numbers in Seahawks history where "Boz" use to hold that record.

Yes this is all speculation at this point but what is so special about Curry to be guaranteed his career doesn't turn out like Bosworth's career? NOTHING that I can see. Curry may have been considered the BPA (best player available) in the 2009 NFL Draft but he did what many big time players do after being drafted; hold out for the big dollar contract. Now this doesn't necessarily mean a player is going to be a bust because he holds out, in fact, often times these players are worth every penny they hold out for. Aaron Curry, on the other hand, has already shown that his hold out was purely for money, not the normal "red tape" he and his agent had to go through to get the deal done. Aaron Curry sat on his rear end waiting for the big $. The nature of his injury (GROIN) is a tell tale sign that his conditioning took a back seat to his greed. If Curry was in fact, just wanting to play football, then he would have had the conditioning to handle the tempo of practices in the NFL without injuring his groin.

The speculation that Aaron Curry will be in familiar company with the "Boz" is all a little more apparent now that his injury has him sitting out another week of training camp; possibly longer.

This injury is most displeasing and has me on edge about our defense. Our secondary was suspect before the start of the season and now our top draft pick is suspect as well. Curry, your character is not what Tim Ruskell thought it was and now he might have to pay for it with a colossal bust!!!!!
