Keeping Up with the JONES'

With the recent news of Walter Jones' most recent knee surgery ( a basic knee scope) circulating all over the web, Seattle Seahawks fans are worried. I know I am. Not that there wasn't enough worry about our Offensive Line already, now it seems as though Walter Jones may not be able to start at LT for the opening game of the season. So what do the Hawks do now? Well keeping up with the Jones' I assume. Levi Jones is the best available person to fill this void left by (Walter) Jones if he isn't able to go. Even if big Walt does start and play this season, how long will he last? Walter Jones is 35 years old now and a knee injury to a 325 lb man can be, and in most cases is, career ending. Walter Jones has played 12 seasons in the NFL all for the Seattle Seahawk. His career is the highlight reel for Tackles coming out of college. Big Walt is the guy to emulate. Is his career indeed over? Maybe, just maybe.

Levi Jones is a comparable, suitable replacement for Walter Jones. Levi is 6'5" weighs 307lbs and is 29 years old with 7 years in the league, all with Cincinnati. Walter Jones is 6'5" weighs 325 and is 35 and has played a stellar 12 seasons all for the Hawks. These guys are pretty much mirror images of each other. I have been watching film, courtesy of NFL.com to study his movements. Levi has quick feet and fierce upper body strength. So why don't we pay a hefty price to bring this man into camp now? Maybe coach Mora and the organization want to keep Walt as a legacy. I am fine with that but get someone in here who can fill that void now.

The offensive line needs cohesiveness to function properly without mistakes. With a replacement line of un-proven guys and mediocrity leading the depth chart I think picking up Levi Jones would be the best option for saving this season. Now that our defense may end up suffering a tremendous loss in TRUFANT for a possible 7 games, we need to be sure our offense will be able to support the troubled secondary of our defense.

I know that most of us fans would love to see (Walt) Jones playing this year.

Bottom line: I don't think Walter Jones is gonna be able to play through the season let alone be ready for the opening game. Go for Levi Jones now. It will be the best decision of Tim Ruskell's life.

Your a cock.

But I like this article. You actually make a good point. Levi is 6 years younger and can be just as good as WALT.

Thanks for the nod though.

Ha, ha! Nice comeback, Jeremy! I agree that it's time to think about life after Walt. For his own sake, he should consider retiring, and he won't ever be the dominant Walt he once was. Yes, injured he still is good, but he did get beat last year a lot more by edge rushers than ever before. The legs don't have the movement they once did.

He's still one of the best, but I think a healthy Locklear or a healthy and experienced Levi Jones can come close enough to Walt's current level to do the job, and probably actually do better in run support.
